INPATIENT PROGRAM THERAPIST

Reports to: Director of Clinical Services

The Program Therapist interviews patients and family members to develop a complete psychosocial assessment. Provides direct-care to patients and family members through individual, family, and group therapy sessions. Serves as a member of the multidisciplinary treatment team. Participates in the planning, implementation and evaluation of treatment plans for patients. Works with patients and families to prepare aftercare plans.


 Job Functions:

Interviews patients and family members to develop a complete psychosocial assessment. Obtains information about patient history, health and level of functioning.

Provides direct-care services to patients and family members through interventions, family and group psychotherapy sessions. Serves as a primary therapist to assigned families. Conducts support groups and aftercare groups for patients / families.

Serves as a member of the multidisciplinary team. Participates in the planning, implementation and evaluation of treatment plans for patients.

Responds to inquiries and provides crisis intervention as needed. Acts as a resource regarding behavioral healthcare.

Documents problem identification, interventions, treatment goals / plans, and patient progress/outcomes in medical record.

Conducts educational programs for patients and families.

Works with patients and families to prepare aftercare plans, including referrals to community agencies and other professionals.

Ensures program functions within requirements established by the Joint Commission for Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO) and other state and federal agencies.

Remains knowledgeable of current trends related to behavioral healthcare by participating in professional organizations, reviewing current literature and communicating with representatives of other facilities.

Qualifications: 

Education: Master's Degree from an accredited college or university, in Social Work or a clinical related mental health field preferred. (LPC-Intern, LMSW, LPC, LCSW, LMFT, LMFT-A).

Experience: Program Therapist requires a minimum of two years experience with direct experience in family and group therapies, crisis intervention, and treatment skills; must have strong clinical assessment skills. Experience in a psychiatric health care facility, a plus. 

License: Program Therapist must possess a state license and state certified in social work or clinical related mental health field.
